The battle of Ayn Jalut (Arabic عين جالوت, "Goliath Oasis") was a clash between Egyptian Mamluk and Mongols exploring Galilee on September 3, 1260 in the Jizreel Valley, in northern Israel. Baibars and his Mamluk set a trap for the Mongols, simulating a retreat to the highlands where the rest of the army waited. In the simulation of the battle of Ayn Jalut, because of the anchorage of the Mamluk device on higher ground, unfavorable to the Mongol maneuver, Ketbugha will not follow Baydar with the main battle line, waiting in the valley and / or hills. Baydar and the vanguard will be instrumental in our (Mongol) device, and should avoid being destroyed, but advancing and displacing the Mamluk battle line.
