
In 1918, Russia erupted into a bloody civil war, which pitted the Reds (Bolsheviks) against their enemies, which included nationalist movements, anti-Bolshevik socialist parties, anarchists, monarchists, and liberals. After the signing of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, which ended hostilities with the Central Powers of World War I, Bolshevik Russia surrendered most of its western territories, which contained 34% of its population, 54% of its industries, 32% of its agricultural land, and about 90% of its coal mines. In developing the simulation of this war I used the board game “Triumph of Chaos” by Clash of Arms Games.
